Development specification The level sensor estimates volume from cartridge geometry. It does not measure weight, contents, or composition. The device service state governs exchange.

Approved use

The C12 is a shared liquid-and-solid sump. No treatment or separation occurs in the unit.

Permitted

  • Ordinary human urine and feces during personal use.
  • Standard dry toilet paper, up to 15 g of standard dry toilet paper per session.
  • Ordinary use after medicine has been taken as prescribed.

Not permitted

  • Any wipe, including products labeled flushable, or a cleaning wipe.
  • Menstrual products, diapers, absorbent products, or clinical material.
  • Sharps, batteries, food, oils, wash water, or deliberately poured liquid.
  • Loose or liquid medication, chemicals, cleaners, solvents, or additives.
  • Known infectious waste.

Do not add a liner, absorbent charge, deodorizing tablet, chemical additive, or stabilizing medium. There are no customer-serviceable contents inside the C12.

Capacity states

Every displayed percentage refers to the 9.6 L approved working volume, not the 12 L nominal shell. Time, temperature, seal, and route rules can require an earlier exchange.

C12 capacity state and required action
StateThresholdRequired action
ReadyBelow 75% of 9.6 LNormal approved use, subject to age and service state.
Capacity advisory75% / 7.2 LReview collection availability and the sanitized spare.
Exchange soon90% / approximately 8.6 LSchedule or confirm pickup and prepare the exchange set.
Collection ready100% / 9.6 L, or 10 days after first useExchange the cartridge. The state may occur earlier because of temperature, seal, or route rules.
Capacity lock10.8 L, or 14 days after first useNo new use. Cloud shows Service required. Follow the device instruction; removal may be prohibited.

At Capacity lock, the status light is red and a new session is inhibited. If the unit reports possible contact at the shutter boundary, do not attempt removal. The state becomes Inspection required.

Cartridge boundaries and airflow

Sealed means liquid-contained and tamper-evident. The cartridge is not represented as hermetically gas-tight.

C12 service-side component map

Powered airflow

Air enters around the seat opening, crosses the cartridge headspace, passes through the rear-right AirSeal cassette and downstream fan, then exits at the downward rear outlet.

Passive pressure path

A hydrophobic, liquid-blocking path connects the installed headspace to AirSeal. A passive filtered membrane remains active in the transport cap when power is unavailable.

Pressure, odor, liquid-blocking, and failed-fan performance are engineering design targets requiring validation.

Exchange the C12

Plan for an upright two-hand lift of approximately 22–28 lb / 10–12.7 kg. Do not begin if the unit has no power or any closure condition is unresolved.

  1. Stage the exchange

Confirm Collection ready. Put a sanitized C12, disposable nitrile gloves, an approved wipe, and the empty rigid transit vessel beside the unit.
  2. Close and check

Close the lid and allow the 90-second purge to finish. Put on gloves. Do not continue if the unit shows Temperature hold or if you see leakage, puncture, or damage.
  3. Close the cartridge

Move the recessed exchange lever to its full stop. The spring shutter closes first. The secondary transport cap then engages.
  4. Confirm both closures

Look for the green shutter flag and the separate green transport-cap band. Wait for Seal confirmed. The bay release stays blocked until both mechanical indicators are present.
  5. Release the bay

Press the recessed bay release and slide the carriage forward to its stop. Do not use the service-only emergency release.
  6. Lift upright

Fold out the recessed front handle, support the lower handhold, and lift with two hands. Keep the transport cap uppermost. Never lift by the cap or NFC tag.
  7. Inspect and store

Wipe the exterior only if needed. Do not wipe the cap boundary. Set the C12 upright in the supplied rigid vessel and close the vessel latch.
  8. Install the replacement

Insert the keyed sanitized C12 to its hard stop. Return the carriage and exchange lever. Wait for Ready after the local seal and airflow checks.

When an exchange cannot continue

C12 failure state and required response
ConditionDo thisDo not
Indicator or seal check failsLeave the C12 in the bay. Return the lever to start and reseat once. Request service if the second check fails.Do not force the latch or use the emergency release.
Transport cap not confirmedKeep the bay closed, restrict access, and request service.Do not release, lift, tape, or manually close the cap.
Temperature holdLeave the C12 installed and follow the service instruction.Do not remove, use, or prepare for handoff.
Visible contamination below gasketSet Inspection required and restrict access.Do not wipe the bay, shutter, or closure boundary.
Leakage, puncture, or damageIf installed, leave it installed. If detached, leave it in place and isolate the area.Do not carry it through the building or improvise an overpack.
Zero batteryFinish the active session, remove load, close the lid, connect power, and wait for restart purge and seal check.Do not begin another session or exchange while power is unavailable.

At zero battery, the fan, sensors, indicators, purge, and Cloud sync stop. The spring-return shutter closes when load is removed, and passive filtered pressure equalization remains. Do not begin a session when Charge required is shown.

Temporary storage and handoff

The customer remains the on-site custodian until an authorized collector records Accepted into custody.

72 hours after sealed removalMaximum detached storage, never beyond 14 days from first use
50–77°F / 10–25°CProposed indoor storage range
UprightTransport cap uppermost in the supplied closed rigid vessel
Secure indoorsDry, protected, and inaccessible to children, pets, food handling, public traffic, and unauthorized staff

Outdoor placement is allowed only in the approved weather-resistant vessel during a confirmed 60-minute Home Scheduled window and within the storage temperature range. Bring it indoors immediately if collection does not occur.
